Indian’s throughout the world began their Diwali celebrations yesterday. The five-day holiday, also known as the Festival of Lights, commemerates the goddess Lakshmi and celebrates goodness over evil. The India Center in Charleston held their own Diwali celebrations, filled with a religious service, traditional and modern music and dance, and, of course, plenty of food. Oh, and who could forget that old party favorite – YMCA?
